EHS Specialist
Our client, a global Pharmaceutical company, is seeking an EHS Specialist to join their team at their site located in West Dublin in a full-time position. This is a 12-month contract opportunity based fully on-site.
Job Purpose:
The primary purpose of this role is to participate in site safety and environmental activities, ensuring that site operations comply with all relevant legislation and best practices. The role provides technical safety and environmental expertise, support, coaching, and mentoring to all departments and personnel on site. The successful candidate will also be responsible for implementing standardized and comprehensive EHS programs across the site, aligned with best practices and focused on continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities Include:
• Actively promote an ethos and culture of safety awareness, where safety is accepted and expected as an integral part of the overall business, in co-operation with other the company’s personnel.
• Notify the appropriate responsible personnel in a timely and comprehensive manner of any breach of EHS policy, procedure or regulation or any potential hazard which could have a serious impact on safety or result in serious personal injury.
• Work with all personnel, contractors and visitors to ensure that all safety policies, procedures and regulations are fully adhered to across the site on an ongoing basis.
• Notify the appropriate responsible persons in a timely and comprehensive manner of any EHS issue which could possibly related to the company’s general compliance status, legal or insurance issues, employment law, public relations or other matters of this nature.
• Investigate, support and, where appropriate, manage any incidents that occur on-site and ensure that Accident Reports / Unplanned Events reporting forms are completed in a timely manner after an event.
• Develop and provide safety training as required.
• Provide leadership & coaching to all employees on the compliance requirements associated with regulatory requirements and site EHS programmes
• Other duties as required by the Head of EHS or Site Leadership Team
The Ideal Candidate:
• Is passionate about EHS and achieving excellence and has demonstrated this in previous projects and employment.
• Holds a degree in Environmental Science/EHS or equivalent.
• Is strong technically and has a “hands on” and collaborative approach to supporting EHS requirements across the site.
• EHS experience within an API pharmaceutical or GMP regulated facility (minimum of 1 year working with hazardous chemicals, ATEX, chemical process safety etc.).
• Excellent written & verbal communication skills and excellent problem-solving skills.
• Is flexible and willing to take on other tasks and duties as required.
• Is results driven and has the ability to handle complexity and multiple priorities.
• Proven experience in the implementation and execution of successful EHS programmes that drive continuous improvement within manufacturing operations and with current & future EPA & HSA compliance requirements.
