Lead Mechanical/HVAC Engineer
Our client is a leading global EPCM organisation with extensive operations and projects across Ireland. The successful candidate will report functionally to the Mechanical/HVAC Department Manager and, on a project basis, to the Project Manager. You will act as the discipline lead on assigned projects, ensuring high-quality delivery across all phases.
Scope of Role:
• Conceptual and detailed design of Mechanical and HVAC systems for Pharmaceutical, Semiconductor or other similar industrial production facilities
• Development of A&ID’s/P&ID’s for HVAC and utilities systems through all design stages: Conceptual, Preliminary and Detailed engineering
• Specification of Air Handling Units, mechanical plant and piping
• Fire Protection Systems – Development of systems design for full range of fire protection systems required for client sites
• Energy audits and energy efficiency reviews of existing and proposed installations.
• Building Management Systems – development of sequence of operations through all design stages.
Key Responsibilities:
• Deliver all HVAC and mechanical design outputs—including specifications, drawings, and technical documentation—on time and to high quality and safety standards
• Lead, mentor, and support the development of the mechanical and HVAC engineering team
• Interface effectively with clients, vendors, project management teams, and other disciplines to ensure seamless project delivery
• Support business development activities, including the preparation and presentation of technical proposals
Qualifications & Experience:
• Degree (Level 8 or equivalent) in Building Services, Energy, or Mechanical Engineering
• Chartered status or actively working towards chartership
• Proven experience in HVAC and utilities system design within pharmaceutical and/or semiconductor industries, ideally in a lead role
Technical Expertise:
• HVAC systems for cleanroom environments
• Specification of AHUs and specialised air handling equipment
• Chilled water and glycol systems
• Steam, hot water, and cooling water systems
• Compressed air systems
• Preparation of tender documentation and construction packages
• Mechanical plant specification (chillers, boilers, cooling towers, compressors, pumps)
• Risk assessments, safety reviews, and constructability analysis
