Lead Mechanical Engineer (Building Services)
Our client a premier EPCM Design consultancy based in Dublin is seeking an experienced Lead Mechanical Engineer. Ideally we seek candidates with several years’ experience in AMT Process Design environments across any of the following business sectors Biotechnology, Pharmaceutical, Data Centres or Semiconductor
The selected candidate will report to the Mechanical -HVAC Department Manager and on a project basis to respective Project Managers and will be the Mechanical Lead on respective assigned projects
Completion of Mechanical deliverables, specifications, drawings and technical requisitions
Leading and assisting career development of Mechanical engineering team
Responsibility for P&ID’s for utilities systems through conceptual, preliminary and detailed engineering
Interfacing with end clients, vendors, Clients project management and other disciplines.
Conceptual and detailed design of Mechanical systems for Biopharma, Data Centre, Semiconductor or Pharmaceutical industrial production facilities
Specification of mechanical dry and black utility plant
Energy efficiency reviews of existing and proposed installations.
Organize, assign, and delegate engineering and design tasks to produce construction documents in conjunction with teams of engineers and designers.
Building Management Systems – development of systems architecture, specifications controls strategies, sequence of operations through all design stages
Manage scope, budget and schedule to meet project goals.
Coordinate real time with electrical, structural, architectural and process to develop designs.
Independently lead plant design activities and coordinate with multi-discipline designers.
Perform Mech/HVAC plant design work across engineering disciplines in 2D/3D integrated design systems.
Perform quality review checks for 3D/2D modelling and Mech/HVAC deliverables.
Participate in design reviews, risk assessments and vendor bid evaluations.
Assist in the generation of proposals, scopes, schedules and budgets for projects.
Develops designer effort-hour estimates for Mech/HVAC discipline.
Up front site selection and due diligence activities.
Developing plans or alternatives and work with teams to assure quality plans.
Perform field activities such as observation of construction activities.
Review construction submittals for conformance with intent of contract and design documents.
Provide guidance / mentoring to project engineers and designers on a project-by-project basis.
Requirements / Qualifications
10 years’ experience in engineering design of building HVAC systems and Mech utilities.
Chartered Engineer or working towards chartership
Bachelor’s Degree in Building Services/Mechanical Engineering.
Semiconductor experience -, large scale industrial, skill sets: wet and dry, calculations, specifications, detailing and sizing.
Experience in design of Semiconductor / Data Centre or advanced manufacturing facilities
Proficient in Microsoft suite (Office).
Start-up and commissioning experience will be an advantageous
Equipment layout definition experience.
Ability to interact with other engineering disciplines, clients, and vendors at all levels.
Experience using REVIT in a BIM environment.
