Senior Estimator
Our client is a leading global EPCM company, involved in projects within the Life Sciences (Pharma/Biopharma), Data Centre and Semi-conductor sectors. They are seeking an experienced Senior Estimator to be part of their team.
Key Responsibilities include:
• Disseminate Operating Procedures for estimating activities and ensure implementation
• Standardize the estimating delivery of the projects, tools, templates, filing structures, so that the company’s Standard becomes the norm across the operation
• Develop and implement estimate plans for projects
• Complete estimate risk analysis and contingency calculations
• Present and review estimates with project team and senior management
• Present and review estimates with clients
• Take the lead in Value Engineering and Risk Workshopping
• Organize project estimates in accordance with the approved estimate plans and standard operating procedures
• Strive to improve templates and processes for estimate delivery, leveraging the IT tools available such as Cost-x, Navisworks, excel and other tools to improve the productive delivery of the estimating function.
• Consolidation of benchmark information in a centralised and traceable location to ensure that all project learnings are captured and incorporated and project commencement and completion
• Support and propagate Capital Cost Trending across projects
• Ensure that systems are in place and effective, and that all estimating requirements of Project Management, and the Client are being satisfied.

• Delivery of a high-quality, accurate, transparent and timely estimating function for projects.
• Actively cooperate with members of the Project & Operations Management team
• Make a particular point of establishing a mutually respectful relationship with key client personnel with whom you interact
• Meet commitments made to the operations, individually or as a team, to complete work by certain dates or within agreed effort hour or cost budgets
• Analyse outside commercial approaches and information for best practices
• Be positive and respectful in your discussions with clients and the team
Requirements
• A BSc or MSc in a recognised Industry field (Quantity Surveying, Engineering or Construction Management)
• Chartered Membership of Engineers Ireland, SCSI or equivalent is an advantage
• Extensive experience in cost engineering, quantity surveying or estimating fields. This should include experience on a project construction site and experience in a related industrial sector.
Technical Competencies
• Detailed knowledge of design, procurement, and construction/field service processes and their inherent cost and schedule performance risks
• Knowledgeable and proficient with computers and experienced with:
> Spreadsheets, word processing and database software
> Quantity Surveying Software (Cost X; Navisworks; Buildsoft or equivalent)
> Scheduling software
> Commercial and/or proprietary Project Services systems
> Risk Analysis (Monte Carlo) software
• Knowledge of resource requirements and training required for all Commercial Services software
• Detailed knowledge of preparation of Capital Estimates
• Proficiency in data management and structuring:
> Benchmarking
> Rates Harvesting
> Automation of repetitive tasks
> Price Sourcing Skills
• Technical understanding of all the constituent functions – Contracts, Quantity Surveying Claims Management
• Technical understanding of the software systems and methods used within all of the constituent functions
• Capable of effectively communicating with all levels of project and operations management and with the client. Must identify potential problems and elevate these to the appropriate level(s) of management
• Capable communicating with the commercial team to ensure complete understanding and fulfilment of operations and project/program objectives
• Able to make clear and concise presentations to the company and Client management
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to promote and grow positive relationships within the Project Services team, within the performance unit (PU), across the company – particularly with other offices, and with our clients and partners.
